My Favourite Top 9 Healthy Lunch Spots in Singapore

Not only looking for the best lunch spots in town to align with your fitness goals and healthy lifestyle but also to have options at your fingertips because you’re a busy mum or a working professional. These options are useful for when meetings over run or if you’re short on time.

I have a number of go-to spots for lunch whether I’m busy working, meeting clients, friends or on the weekends. These eateries have been my favourite spots to visit. We don’t need too many options and instead have your go-to no matter what. I always know what I will order from the delicious menu on offer.

So here’s a whistle stop tour of my favourite spots primarily around the CBD here in Singapore. With a few of the spots having multiple locations you can then source out.

Tips for planning ahead with your lunches include:

  1. Select one-three options here so that you can get away from your desk for 15-60 minutes that includes a walk, getting necessary vitamin D and reduced screen time

  2. Select the options you would choose from their menu. So when you’re decision poor, ‘hangry’ or don’t have the energy you’re able to make an informed choice

  3. Struggling to leave your desk? Have a backup of one to three places you will order from, to give you all the nutrition required to align with your goals and so you’re not constantly ordering on impulse, through your emotions or when you’re absolutely ravenous.

  4. Make your own lunch and get inspiration from the menus from your favourite restaurants. I love doing this - finding flavours and easy to fix up lunches to plan at the weekend and prep overnight is a cost saver.

Salad Shop - Boat Quay

This is a classic and a place I have gone to on the river over the last eight plus years. You can choose your size, proteins, bases depending on the type of day. I absolutely love the selection here as it’s SO unbelievably fresh, with a lot of variety. I love the succulent and flavoursome chicken thigh on a bed of spinach, salsa, avocado and some more veggies, packed with all the goodness required. I love taking it out to sit out by the river away from the aircon for a bit and watch the world go by. I would put this at the top of my list for options, location and helping me maintain a healthy lifestyle. You can dine in or out.

Daily Cut

The Daily Cut is the ultimate salad bowl creation in the heart of the CBD. Owner Jonathan Yang – also the co-owner of Muchachos in the Keong Saik neighbourhood – caters to a healthy eating crowd wanting a solution to food on the go with multiple options made fresh daily. There’s a great focus on their protein bowls priced from $9 packed with healthily grilled options like salmon fillet, chicken thighs, sirloin steaks, and also great for all of you veggie lovers with veggie-friendly tofu that pair alongside your veggies from your sweet potato, broccoli, mushrooms and all the veggies you need. You can order from these guys online too, so make sure you save your order for next time you need your food pronto: https://www.thedailycut.sg/

Genius Central

I found Genius Central on one of the food delivery apps in Singapore on a whim and quickly became fond of their salads and hearty meals that didn’t break the bank. I then ventured there to work and lunch from the co-working space which was awesome as an online coach. It’s a spacious and chic spot to get some serious work done among other equally hard working folks. If you have dietary restrictions or are just a health nut, you’ll be glad to know that Genius Central has a wonderfully inclusive menu. This is a great spot for work meetings too. The menu has a number of vegan, vegetarian and nut-free options packed with all the flavours. I loved the Holy Guacamole, Mexican Bowl of Glory, Pesto Barramundi, and Paprika Roasted Chicken Leg. Check out more of their menu here: https://geniuscentralsingapore.com/

My Awesome Cafe

Kicking off with my favourite spot for lunch options just as much as my breakfast options. I love the chicken wrap to keep things simple, but also they have amazing salad choices to choose from depending on what your taste buds are feeling like. The staff are absolutely incredible, super friendly and helpful to all your needs. It’s also a great lunch and dinner spot in the heart of the CBD in Singapore. What makes this very unique is the decor of the space with unfinished walls, interchanging ornaments depending on what’s going on in the world for themes that month to vintage dinnerware. Frank and the team are nothing but AWESOME. It’s a great spot if you’ve just done a morning walk or run around the marina to finish with some delicious food. Sarnies

A classic and place I have been going to for years and I have a few favourites. A simple concept opening its doors early which is great for all of you coffee folks out there. There are so many options from salads, wraps and sandwiches where they don’t scrimp on the fillings. Protein is key for people. This is one hearty meal that’ll keep you full until lunch time. Not only are they great for breakfast options but I absolutely love their lunch and their brownies (wow) - melt in your mouth type! Situated at the beginning of Telok Ayer you can opt for inside or outside. The seating outside is great viewing passers by in the hustle and bustle of city goers. Check out more about what the team offer at Sarnies here: https://sarnies.com/Singapore

Carrots Sticks & Cravings

If you’re looking for some time out and a wholesome and healthy lunch option located in a different area then this is the place to be. I love the calmness of the location here at Robertson Quay which offers a great spot for lunch to catch up with your friends and family. A great choice of wholesome and healthy food that fulfils all nutrition requirements. I love this spot and could eat the whole menu. I always fall back to “Manwich.” There are two locations you can find Carrot Sticks & Cravings Robertson Quay and Stanley Street: https://www.carrotsticksandcravings.com/

Little Farms Bistro

Adjoining the largest outlet of Little Farms at Katong is a new, all-day dine-in eatery. This is also Little Farms Bistro’s biggest venue to date, complete with a full-service bistro, coffee kiosk, and impressive bar counter. It’s a perfect blend to go before or after your shopping. The same fresh produce found on its supermarket shelves is used to cook up a range of healthy, hearty dishes. These guys seriously deliver on quality of produce, veggies ensuring you’re getting the very best. After all, it's what we’re eating that really counts to give us energy throughout the day. Let’s get the best quality of food we can afford: https://littlefarmscafe.com/

Haakon

Haakon, pronounced  ‘haw-coon’, is a Scandinavian-inspired café that brings superfoods from Norway to your plate. I love this spot for the variety but also that It only uses premium Norwegian smoked salmon – it’s rich in protein, Omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants. This stands out to me for the quality of protein you’re getting which is used to make dishes like salad bowls ($11.90). For those with a sweet tooth (if you’re like me), you can go for Haakon’s classic acai bowl (from $7.90), topped with coconut flakes, banana, strawberries and blueberries for a quick and guilt-free energy boost in the middle of the afternoon. Check out more of what they’re about and get them saved in your food delivery apps for future options: https://www.haakon.com.sg/

Salad Stop

A pioneer of the healthy eating concept in Singapore, being able to take the salads on the go is amazing. Sometimes the protein portions aren’t that big so I will always double up on the protein here whether it’s chicken or eggs to make sure I get more than just lettuce leaves in my serving - so watch out for that. They’re great for convenience, options on the go, especially with a number of locations based around in Singapore: https://www.saladstop.com.sg/

Grain Traders

This throws me back to my early days in Singapore and I am so glad to see it still thriving sharing its multi-cuisine options. It’s a great spot in the heart of the CBD to get your daily count of proteins, veggies, carbohydrates. I love the pick-and-mix bowls ($16) that give you a base of salad greens, roasted chicken, bulgur wheat or quinoa, and a mix of colourful grilled and roasted vegetables. This is truly a wholesome place to come on your lunch break with their packed full of goodness bowls. Even better, if you’re stuck for ideas for dinner just double up that day and bring one home so you spend less time thinking about the next meal and you’ve got it sorted. The game has changed and a must visit spot here to keep on top of your delicious, healthy options. Check them out here: https://www.graintraders.com/en-sg/

Enjoy the delicious tastes in Singapore. There’s no need to overcomplicate your nutrition on your fitness journey, just create more options, save your favourites and have your go-to meals and places.
